BBL (BroadBand Light)

BroadBand Light (BBL), developed by Sciton, is a light-based technology used to support skin health and address several signs of aging. It may be applied to improve concerns such as fine lines, laxity, sagging, hyperpigmentation, redness, vascular lesions, acne, and post-acne discoloration.

Light plays a fundamental role in biological processes. BBL technology uses beneficial wavelengths of light while filtering out potentially harmful ones, aiming to create a balanced therapeutic effect.

The procedure is generally comfortable and non-painful.

Depending on the treatment area, each session typically lasts 20–40 minutes. Sessions are planned individually and may be scheduled every 15–30 days.

Clinical protocols often recommend 2 to 6 sessions, depending on the skin’s needs. Scientific Research & Mechanism of Action

Research conducted at Stanford University has shown that BBL treatment:

  •  Can reactivate over 1000 genes associated with youthful skin
  •  Produces genetic expression patterns similar to younger skin
  •  Supports reduction in age-related elastosis
  •  Enhances collagen production

These biological effects may contribute to:

  •  Improved firmness
  •  More even skin tone
  • Reduction in the appearance of fine lines

Who Is Suitable for BBL?

The Sciton BBL Forever Young system, operating between 420–1200 nm, can be safely used on individuals with Fitzpatrick skin types I–V.

It is considered suitable for anyone seeking skin rejuvenation, without strict age limitations.

Long-Term Observations

Studies indicate that individuals who undergo BBL Forever Young treatment at least twice a year for 10 years may appear:

  •  Up to 10 years younger than their chronological age,
  •  With gene expression patterns resembling younger skin.

These findings suggest that BBL may play a role in supporting long-term skin rejuvenation and slowing visible signs of aging.
